GOAL
Bring an urban, downtown feel to West Omaha.
Nuri event studio is a small capacity venue. This size of venue was a concept in demand for West Omaha. Nuri also wanted to provide a unique and modern atmosphere, which is something rarely seen in the area.
When approached with the idea, we knew it was going to be a big feat (considering our four week time-line).
We created the entire Nuri brand along with the interior redesign of the space. This includes name development, brand development, logo design, web design, interior/ exterior re-design, social media creation and guidelines, photography and video, and marketing.
What's in a name?
The name is derived from Japanese folklore. Nuri is a shortened version of Nurikabe, a type of Yokai, which are strange and supernatural creatures in the culture.
The whole idea behind the space was to make it “transparent,” Allowing for the clients brand or personality show through.
Now, were does Nurikabe and transparency come together? Nurikabe translates to painted white wall but the actual identity of the creature is suppose to be unknown. It wasn’t until artists out of the Edo period started to depict them as flat, white wall like characters.
Our original idea of all white walls was now supported by a name.
